I’m sure you’ve heard it before, and maybe you’ve heard it a lot; you have to get out of your comfort zone. You have to push yourself. That’s fine and dandy, but what does that really mean?

What exactly is this comfort zone and where is it? In your kitchen? At your desk? Your junk drawer? Someplace inside your head?

All of the above are possibly correct for you. Ask yourself where am I most comfortable? What am I most comfortable doing? Or not doing?

For me, I would say I’m most comfortable in bed, sleeping. At least that’s where I think I’m most comfortable. I’m really not sure, I’m sleeping.

I’m most comfortable laying on the couch watching TV. Which often leads to sleeping on the couch.

Driving. I enjoy driving. I’m very comfortable behind the wheel.

And as odd as this one might sound, one place I’m most comfortable is on stage, performing. That’s only because I’ve done it for over 30 years and it really is a rush that takes me hours to come down off of. If I get home at 1 A.M. after a show, I won’t get to sleep until 3 or 4 A.M. just because I’m still buzzing off of the adrenaline.

But where am I uncomfortable? In the cold. I used to love it, but now, it just makes me, shiver and want to be somewhere warm. Like in my bed, sleeping.

Where else am I uncomfortable? Right before I go onstage. Isn’t that weird? I‘m fine once I get going, but the anticipation right before going on stage sometimes makes me so uncomfortable, I just don’t want to do it.

Another place I’m uncomfortable? Before I get on the phone and call people for business purposes. It’s a lot like the performance thing I described above. Once I’m on the phone, I’m fine. I’m focused on helping the person I’m talking with. That’s our job as marketers. Helping people find what they need, want and desire.

But before I get on the phone, I typically go through this whole song and dance in my head. And the thing that makes it most difficult? Unlike performing in front of a group, it’s just one person I’m calling. And if they don’t know I’m calling them, what difference does it make whether I call them or not?

Have you ever thought that? Or something like that before you call? That’s were your uncomfortableness lays. That picking up the phone and talking to a stranger or even someone you know and trying to get them to buy something from you.

So here is what I’m suggesting to you. I’ve done this and it helps a lot. You have to look at it from a different perspective. Don’t call people with any agenda other than to see if you can help this person in some way. That’s it.

Listen, I have people I’ve contacted in a business way, I’ve talked with them for years on the phone and they’ve never bought anything from me. I’ve never bought anything from them. But what happened was that we formed a friendship. We talk to shoot the breeze, or discuss projects we’re working on and it’s a business relationship that also includes a personal friendship.

I’ve also talked with people and arranged appointments on the phone and in person that have made me thousands of dollars in one deal.

And it all happened because I did what was uncomfortable for me. I got on the phone. And once I started talking with them I looked for ways to help them.

It doesn’t always get rid of the jitters before calling, but focusing on helping people when on the phone makes the phone a lot lighter to pick up. Try it yourself and see.

My suggestion is to read it through the first time. Shouldn’t take more than a half an hour-45 min. Then read it everyday, but skim through it and slow down  for the parts that jump out at you, and then pick up the pace again. Keep doing that until you can read it through in 10-15 min with good comprehension of the concepts and principles.

By the time you’re doing that, you won’t believe the difference it will have on how you conduct yourself with people and how much easier it will be for them to become your client.

Here’s a little something I experienced today, and my question is, what would you do?

I had used Phone Burner in the past, and was looking into what other dialer programs were available. You know, doing some comparison shopping.

I came across this company called Five9. Now everything about the company and the product looks like the best that there is.

They have some of the top companies in the world using their services. Everything I’ve read has been glowing reviews of their products. They are in the top 5 for the choice of my next phone dialer.

Thing is, I always am looking at things from a business and or marketing perspective.

I was looking for particular information. They weren’t providing it for me. Why not? Why are they not sharing that with me? With you? With anyone looking to use their services?

Here’s an email I wrote to the company, mainly as an exercise in letting an entity know how I feel about how they have a certain part of their marketing set up, what I did, how it made me feel and how I feel it’s effecting their business.

I’m curious to see if I get any sort of response from them, which I will share here in my blog. Click the RSS feed button so you can keep track and see what, if any response I get from Five9.

Here’s the email I sent;

A question for administration.

 Why don’t you list your prices? I had to go off your site to find;

  • Five9, a popular provider of hosted predictive dialing software, charges $100 to $200 per agent each month for the software. There’s also a $500 setup fee and a charge of 3 cents per minute for long distance.

So, while I was off your website I was distracted not only by having to do a search “five9 price” which lead me to the answer, but I also was distracted by whatever ads showed up in my search, other results from the search and the feeling of annoyance that I even had to do this search. The information I gathered could be right or wrong so I feel even less inclined to pursue further.

 If I feel that way, how many other prospective customers are experiencing the same thing?

 As a conscientious marketer, I felt I should share this with you.

And that’s what I sent.

Now, I know the reason they don’t share their pricing is so you will basically be forced into calling one of their sales representatives. But now the sales rep has to play the game of building value before they get to the price. I haven’t called, but I can guarantee you, that’s what you’ll experience.

Thing is, it’s a waste of effort. People are calling the sales person wanting to know the price.  That’s what they want, and I’m thinking in many cases, that’s the only thing they want.

On top of that, they’re not even qualified. I would guess when most people call the sales rep and get the price, they got what they want and they want to go to the next company and get their price. Because that’s what they’re doing. Comparative shopping. If I’m wrong, let me know in the comments. Because I’m pretty sure I’m right.

When a  company reveals the price in their marketing in the most smart and positively communicative way, the person calling the sales rep is now looking to become a customer, not looking for what the price is.

Can you see the difference? Can you see how it would be so much more cost effective to deal with pricing in the marketing? When the person has a real good idea what it’s going to cost them, and they then call a sales rep, they are so much further down the sales funnel, and the sales rep doesn’t have to play any “hide the price game.” He can just focus on how to best service the customer.

Let Me Ask You, Do You Really Want to Succeed in

Network Marketing?

I know a lot of people say they want more success in their lives. I know they say that they want things different. More money. More recognition for their endeavors.

The thing I’ve noticed, mainly because I’ve been guilty of it myself, is that people say they want to succeed in network Marketing, but then what they do, sometimes in the same breath, is start complaining about all the reasons why they can’t be successful.

I live in a bad neighborhood. My parents messed me up. I don’t have any money. I work two jobs. I have triplets ages 7, 5 and 9. How can I find the time to do this? The list goes on. I’ve personally used all of these… except the one about the triplets.

It’s easy to fall into. You look for the negative and you complain. Your complaining is part of your frustration with not having the success you want in your life. And by complaining you justify why you’re not successful, even though you say you want to be.

What do you need to get out of this vicious circle?  success in network markeing

A clear vision of what you want. Your goal. Your outcome. What is is you want that will mean success for you.

Commitment. Be totally committed to doing what must be done to achieve what it is you want. No wavering. No excuses. Only focused vision with your blinders on.

When you try to do too many things at once, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Figure out what needs to be done in one area and only do things to complete that task until you have the task completed.

Otherwise you have many uncompleted tasks and that weighs very heavily on your mind. It interferes with everything you’re wanting to accomplish and makes it equal to trying to push a car up a icy hill while it’s in park. You’re not going to get anywhere.

So, know what you want. Be totally committed to getting it. Put your blinders on and only focus on achieving that goal until it’s achieved.

Then, and only then,  do you go on to the next goal.

Makes sense?

I’m guessing many of you already know what I’m talking about because you have so many things you’ve not accomplished you can’t even think straight. I know.

I’m still learning this one myself and once in a while I fall into trying to do too many things at once, and get nothing accomplished.

So, here’s what to do. Have a place where you put a piece of paper that you’ll see all the time. Like on your desk. The file cabinet. A table. On that piece of paper you put your thing that you want to accomplish. Your short term goal. The task at hand. Maybe it’s something as simple as “take out the trash.”

Write that on the piece of paper. And tell yourself that you will not do anything else until that task is accomplished. Now do the task. Take out the garbage. Make sure the lid is on tight. Put a new bag in the garbage can in your house.  You’re done.

Now go get the piece of paper and write, “Done” on it. Then put the piece of paper in a special place. On a bookshelf. In a cabinet.  In a file cabinet. And each time you accomplish another task put it on top of the last one. And again and again. And in no time you’ll have a stack of things that you have accomplished. Instead of being in your head not done, it’s on a piece of paper with the word, “Done” on it.

What does this do?

1. It helps you focus crystal clear on what needs to be done.

2. You’re constantly reminded of what needs to be done until it’s done.

3. Writing “Done” on the piece of paper and moving it to your special place actually releases pleasure endorphins and you get rewarded for completing the task.

4. You’re going to build up a pile of proof of all that you’ve been accomplishing. You can look at it at any time and believe me, it’s builds your confidence in getting things done and actually becomes addictive.

5. Doing this over and over reinforces the actions of taking what needs to be done and turning it into an accomplished goal.

So, what is this magic that everyone is talking about, but nobody is explaining?

And it amazes me how often the marketing gurus talk about this “magic” that is out there.

It seems to be that once you have it, things will be great.

They use phrases like, “Once you put all the pieces together, it works like magic.” Or, “You do this and Presto! Magically, your products are selling like hotcakes.”

So, what is this magic that everyone is talking about, but nobody is explaining? I mean, what is it? What is this magic they’re eluding to? Can I get it? How do I get it? Can I just buy it and I’ll have it? Will it appear in a puff of smoke? Who can teach me what this magic is and how to use it?

Who better to teach you what this magic is…

Than a magician?

What is magic? If you Google the word magic, you’ll find the basketball team, a fashion convention called Magic, a game called Magic the Gathering,  and in there somewhere is a definition.

The one I found on the first page was from Wikipedia. It states: Magic is the art of producing a desired effect or result through the use of incantaion, ceremony, ritual, the casting of spells or various other techniques that presumably assure human control of supernatural agencies or the forces of nature.

That’s a rather complex explanation for a 5 letter word and leads to many interpretations.

I’m going to share with you the simple to the point definition used in the magic circles I travel in.

Here it is.

Magic is making the impossible possible with the greatest of ease.

That is what we call Magic.

I’ve learned firsthand from the greats in the art of magic. I’ve studied the best in the field of prestidigitation and legerdemain. And I became a magician.

I’ve studied many of our cultures religions and have countless hours of concentration and practical application of metaphysical manifestations.

I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist. I wanted to know how the mind worked and how use my mind to assure my success. And more importantly, how to help others become more successful at what they wanted to achieve in their lives.

As you can see, I’ve studied all forms of magic from the inside out and the outside in. I’ve examined the phenomena of manifestation and how to apply it purposefully. I’ve studied hypnosis to learn how the mind works. I have countless hours of study in psychology.

I’m going to help  you to accept and understand that the “magic” that everyone is talking about has everything to do with you. From a business perspective,  a personal perspective, a spiritual perspective, It has everything to do with you, just you and nothing else.

Once you understand what this magic is, you have to nurture it. You have to, you must, apply it every day. The magic comes from you. We’re going to show you the way to make it grow and sprout and flourish and before you know it, your business is working for you. And this will happen in ways you can’t even comprehend right now.
